We are excited to exhibit works by artist Tim Cavnar- a recent-ish transplant to the NW via New Orleans. Timothy’s work explores the power of memory, and the often forgotten decaying underpinnings of our world. Meticulously rendered, some pieces are slightly smudged and delicately tinted as if being recollected from a hazy memory or dream. He pulls forth the beauty in the overlooked object whether it’s a ramshackle house, a deconstructed building, or a tree stump, without adding a false sense of grandiosity or meaning. He shows the beauty in the things as they are.

“ I paint houses, buildings, and cars in various stages of creation or decay, or the stumps of trees long ago cut down. Isolated from their surroundings, a landscape slipping into dreamscape. I’m looking for the hidden skeleton of our world, seen briefly in the exposed beams of a future high-rise, or the craggy roots of an old-growth carcass. We forget those scenes, maybe because they’re not worth remembering. Soon the building will be the built, the house knocked down, the stump left to rot. But I want you to remember. These moments of time mark our passing through the world.” - Tim Cavnar
