Creatura Luxury Wildlife Safari ~ January 15th - 24th Itinerary
Here is our itinerary for our upcoming trip! We don’t like to schedule every second nor reveal everything, but here is a look at where we will be each day!
Jan 15th :
Arrive in Nairobi Jomo Kenyetta Airport. You will be greeted as you get off the plane by a Fast Track representative who will escort you through immigration and customs, and then to the airport exit. There a driver will be waiting for you to take you to Emakoko to join the rest of the group. Most people will be arriving later, so we will have drinks for you and a light supper at the lodge before you get to RELAX in your gorgeous cabin for the night.
Jan 16th :
Up and at ‘em a bit early- you’ll have coffee, tea, or hot chocolate delivered to your door with your wake up call. From there we’ll have breakfast and then hop into the land rovers to either explore Nairobi National Park or if you like, go visit the Giraffe Center and get to meet those amazing animals (and feed them!) The afternoon is free to hang out, and then we’ll go on another drive in the later afternoon to see what’s happening and have our traditional “sundowner”- a stop for drinks and to watch the sunset. Then back to Emakoko for dinner.
Note: Kenya is an 11 hour time difference from the west coast of the US. That said, you’ll be quite surprised at how jet lag isn’t that bad while on safari. It may be the excitement, or the fact one generally gets up early and goes to bed early. Day 3 can sometimes be a challenge for folks, but bear in mind this is your holiday and you can go on every single game drive, or sit some out and just relax!
Jan 17th:
(Flight one) Today after we’ll head to Wilson airport in Nairobi to catch our private charter to Reteti’s private airstrip up north to go to Retiti House! We will be at Reteti for the nights of 17th, 18th, and 19th. In addition to game drives, excursions and day hikes, we’ll be able to go on guided night drives and one of these days we will have our private visit to Reteti Elephant Sanctuary to see the orphaned elephants they are raising.
Please take a look at the webpages linked in the last email for each camp and let us know if there is something you’d like to do so we can arrange it! We will have lots to do so don’t feel pressured - but if you want a spa service or balloon excursion let us know.
Jan 20th:
(Flight two) Today we’ll catch our private charter to the Maasai Mara and will be picked up and taken to Naibor Camp. This is the most “classic” safari part as we will be in the Serengeti ecosystem - it’s like living in a National Geographic documentary! We will spend the nights of the 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at Naibor. I’m very excited we got an extra day here- it’s just amazing to have time to sink into the rhythm of the natural world around you.
Jan 24th:
(Flight 3) Today we will meet for breakfast and then head to the airstrip to catch our scheduled flight back to Nairobi. This flight is about an hour or so. Once in Nairobi we will have the opportunity to do some good souvenir shopping (if you don’t shop there’s places to have coffee or beer in the garden) and relaxing. Most west coast flights leave late at night so time permitting we will head out to Talisman Restaurant for our farewell dinner before going to the airport. We will need to be at the airport 3 hours in advance because to be honest it’s a bit of a pain as you go through multiple security measures. It’s gotten a bit better though, and I’ll be with you!
Other notes: I’ll be following up re your Visa application. The main thing to check now is to make sure your passport is still valid 6 months AFTER the date of your trip.
The question of cameras has come up. I do recommend it. An iPhone is great to take video and pics as you will be able to get pretty close to animals- but for the really good shots I would recommend a proper camera. I will have one with me with a killer zoom, so you can always have my photos if you don’t want to deal with bringing one. Bring SOMETHING though! :)
Dietary restrictions: no problem here, just let me know what it is! Also- let me know if there is something you REALLY like, like if you are a Diet Coke addict or something and Chris will make sure we get you sorted!
As always just let me know if you have any questions!
I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!
