Creatura Luxury Wildlife Safari ~ January 15th - 24th 2025!

Creatura Wildlife Projects (Roq La Rue’s philanthropic wing) is excited to offer an incredible custom safari this January 2025. We are offering a 9 day wildlife rich safari with three different stops in the gorgeous country of Kenya, limited to only 8 guests.

Our safaris are created to offer our guests the all inclusive luxury safari experience. Our goal is for you to just relax while we handle everything so you can soak in the incredible magic of East Africa’s spectacular wildlife, breathtaking natural vistas, and warm and delightful people. We are committed to working with camps and lodges that are non-extractive, locally owned, and committed to wildlife conservation and supporting local communities. Creatura has been supporting projects in Kenya since 2009 including The Sheldrick Trust, Mara Elephant Project, Saving The Wild, and Wildlife Works. Our main guide, Chris Mahoney, has been a wildlife guide in Kenya for over 15 years.

What’s a Creatura Safari like?

Our safari doesn’t start when you land in Nairobi. We are with you every step of the way, providing guidance on visas, vaccinations, flights, and packing lists. Safaris are all inclusive which means everything on your trip is included with the exception of tips for camp staff and souvenirs. Everything is taken care of the minute you land in Nairobi to when you take off for home. We will be staying in exclusive lodges and gorgeous camps, very secluded and away from tourist mobs, to give you maximum time in the wild. Daily game drives (usually 2 a day) are in open air land rovers with everyone getting a seat with an unobstructed view.

Days are spent waking up to coffee and tea brought to your tent. While you get dressed you’ll be serenaded by the morning chorus of an orchestra of birds. We’ll head out on an early morning drive in an open air landcover to find an array of wildlife waking up and starting their day. We’ll spend the morning looking for elephants, lions, cheetah, leopards, hippos… you will be amazed at the sheer volume of life. We’ll then have breakfast at camp or in the bush, picnic style! Lunch is at camp with a short rest (cocktails? tea? a massage? journal writing? swim in the pool? Hang with your guides?) before going on the second game drive of the day to find more animals! Dinner is at camp, with drinks around the fire afterwards, watching the Milky Way wheel above. You’ll go to sleep tucked into a proper bed in your tent (with en suite bathroom) listening to the night roars of lions and yips of hyenas. This is just the basic outline, but we’ll have extra things to do, like visiting a Samburu village, feeding Giraffes at the Giraffe Rehab Center, and a few really special things we are going to keep secret for now. Bear in mind, this is your holiday- so you can go on every single game drive or you can skip some if you want to just chill and enjoy the camp- in the African bush, wildlife comes to YOU too, so no fomo! Meals/ game drives are spent together - but you can also request meals in your tent if it’s date night and you want time to yourself!

Where Are We Going?

When you land we will pick you up at the airport and whisk you off to the incredible Emakoko. This gorgeous boutique lodge is tucked away in a small valley inside Nairobi National Park right outside Nairobi, so instead of overnighting in a city hotel, you can get started on the safari experience right off the plane ! Expect to see monkeys and hyrax right outside your room at Emakoko. While this park is adjacent to the city, it is very wild- it is bursting with wildlife, and is our best chance to spot rhino. In fact NNP has all the Big 5 and then some, with the exclusion of elephants (who we’ll see later in the trip). We will spent two night total at Emakoko, embarking on game drives during the day and relaxing at camp at night (we may even have a few wild 4 footed visitors looking for treats while we sip our evening drinks).

Day three we hop a small plane and head north to the Namunyak Conservancy where we are staying at the breathtaking Reteti House for 3 days. Nestled in desert scrubland and ringed by mountains- this place is famous for its elephant populations. Indeed, we will also be spending time by ourselves with a private tour at Reteti (pronounced Reh- teh-tey) - a world renowned elephant sanctuary owned by the local Samburu tribe. Spending time with elephants, the adorable babies but also the wild population, is an incredible time, and will move you in ways you’ll find unexpected. While here we will also go on daily games drives and hikes looking for additional wildlife, take a dip in the infinity pool, and sit by the fire watching the stars whirl overhead. There’s lots of things to do so you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Next we will hop a small plane and fly for about an hour to the fabled Maasai Mara. The Mara is the Northernmost tip of the Serengeti ecosystem. We will spend 4 nights at Naibor, a fantastic camp that is honestly one of my favorite places to stay in Kenya, from the beautiful tents to the main area where you can have a coffee or cocktail overlooking the river and its resident hippo pod! This area is also a great place to spot all the big cats in particular as well. Here we will be deep in the wild, surrounded by animals as well as our local guides from the Maasai tribe. The Mara is my favorite place on earth, with it’s rolling hills dotted by acacia trees- this is the Africa you know from wildlife documentaries, and to live, even for a short while, amongst nature in such a spectacular way is an uplifting, life changing experience.

Then sadly, it’s back to Nairobi where we will have opportunities to souvenir shop and have one last celebratory dinner out together in the city before we go to the airport and depart for home.

What Does This Include?

This trip is all inclusive- what this means is you don’t really have to get your wallet out from the time you land at the airport to when you arrive at the airport to go home. All accommodations, game drives, guides (Chris and local guides), conservancy and park fees, laundry services, 3 fantastic meals a day plus snacks, drinks including wine, beer, and spirits, private chartered internal flights and airstrip/airport transfers, expedited airport services, and any little trips/experiences we’ve arranged are all included. All dietary restrictions can be happily accommodated- just let me know.

What is not included is your flight to Kenya, tips for camp staff and local guides (plan on $300 per person for the entire trip), souvenirs, top shelf booze. Additionally you will need to buy a Kenyan Visa ($55. online), and get any needed travel vaccinations. You will need to carry travel insurance. I can walk you through all of this. Some camps offer extras like hot air ballon rides and spa services, any things like this are an additional cost, but easily arranged. I encourage you to check out the camp links and see if there are any additions you’d like, but not to worry- you are going to have a full experience if you choose to forgo the extras!

You do not need to buy “safari clothes”! Just pack light and in layers, like you were camping -and you are golden.(We do recommend neutral colors and skipping prints for the aesthetic of thing.) I will send you a comprehensive packing list and all the info you’ll need for the trip. Plus I’m available for any questions or requests for the trip at any time! (Of course if you have something you want to wear to be photographed whilst sitting in a camp chair sipping a G&T with elephants in the background like the jet setter you are, bring that too.)

Cost…

The cost is $11,500. per person, based on a double occupancy tent. While we generally do offer safaris to solo travelers, for this safari to get this rate we must have double occupancies (2 people per tent). This does not include your flight to Kenya. I am happy to offer advice on booking flights.
